Gayla's post about Mr. Amedei made me remember Clarence Basler, who served as the Grand Marshall of our Homecoming parade for over 30 years. His prize-winning horses were awesome--they literally danced up the street! The first pic is My Happiness, the fabulous prancer. Clarence is then shown accepting a blue ribbon at the Huntsville Horse Show. The last photo includes Martha Selby, who rode the Basler's other spotted horse. Thanks for the photos, Sharon! ~cg

I've never been a country music fan, but I found myself in a lawn chair on Friday night of Homecoming, watching the Johnny Lee show. I have to admit that I LOVED IT! What a great performer, and a real crowd-pleaser. He sounded great on all his hits -- "Lookin' For Love," "One In A Million," "Pickin' Up Strangers," "Prisoner of Hope," "Be There for Me Baby," "Cherokee Fiddle," "Sounds Like Love," "Hey Bartender," "Rollin' Lonely" and lots more. Between sets he graciously signed all autographs, and even went into the crowd to greet folks. Thanks to our great Homecoming Committee for bringing in these great entertainers each year! They do a fabulous job, and our Homecoming is one of the last venues where you can see such talent for FREE! ~cg
This is just a small sampling of the Italian family names you'll find in our home town. It's fun to hear of the friendly rivalry between them at parade time! (Se non è vero, è ben trovato!) From top to bottom, Zuccarini, Biondi, Beltramo, Chiarottino and Contratto, who took home the first-place trophy with the boat float! ~cg

In the background is Ann Lenzini, Norma Adams...and I think that other lady is Mrs. Heath...she was the school nurse who gave us our vaccinations! Ouch! ~cg
