Centennial Couple

Isn't this a great photo of T.W. and Marge Swind? They're in costume for our 1958 Centennial! Thanks to Marge's niece, Vickie, for sharing this with the blog! ~cg

First-Place Centennial Year Float

1958 - Baker's Market received first place in the Centennial parade. The float, "A Century of Memories," depicted a miner's home life in the early days. Thelma Baker, dressed in the fashion of long ago, was busy at the old-fashioned range, preparing supper for the family. The miner, Martin Baker, with his lunch bucket under his arm had returned from the day's work at the mine. The table was "set" and the delicious loaves of homemade bread awaited the family. Several children, in appropriate costumes, made up the family.

1958 - Our Centennial Year!

Do you have photos from Bevier's Centennial celebration in 1958? Please share them on this blog! At top are three of the "Sisters of the Swish" -- Florence Ricker, Irene Basler and Thelma Baker at Baker's Market. Next pic is Henry Edwards, standing beside the newly-dedicated monument in the city park. Last is Bruce Slightom, dressed as a miner in the parade (2nd place in the costume contest). How did you celebrate in 1958? Let us know! ~cg
