


Gayla's post about Mr. Amedei made me remember Clarence Basler, who served as the Grand Marshall of our Homecoming parade for over 30 years. His prize-winning horses were awesome--they literally danced up the street! The first pic is My Happiness, the fabulous prancer. Clarence is then shown accepting a blue ribbon at the Huntsville Horse Show. The last photo includes Martha Selby, who rode the Basler's other spotted horse. Thanks for the photos, Sharon!

I don't have a picture but I have always been told that my Grandmother Clara Yocum was always asked to ride the best horse in the "older parades", she would ride side sadle and had a long fancy dress on with her medals on it. I did see a picture years ago and she was a "stately woman" sitting on the horse!
