Clarence Basler and My Happiness

Gayla's post about Mr. Amedei made me remember Clarence Basler, who served as the Grand Marshall of our Homecoming parade for over 30 years. His prize-winning horses were awesome--they literally danced up the street! The first pic is My Happiness, the fabulous prancer. Clarence is then shown accepting a blue ribbon at the Huntsville Horse Show. The last photo includes Martha Selby, who rode the Basler's other spotted horse. Thanks for the photos, Sharon! ~cg

I don't have a picture but I have always been told that my Grandmother Clara Yocum was always asked to ride the best horse in the "older parades", she would ride side sadle and had a long fancy dress on with her medals on it. I did see a picture years ago and she was a "stately woman" sitting on the horse!
